Understanding Roofing

Residential roofing, or what the roofing industry refers to as steep slope roofing, is defined as roofing materials installed on a roof with a 3:12 pitch or greater. To give you a visual understanding of a 3:12 pitch, take a standard 12-inch ruler and raise one end about 3 inches off a table. You will see that it is a very low angle or slope. Most residential roofs in Central Oklahoma range between a 5:12 and a 12:12 pitch. 12:12 pitch roofs are the very steep roofs you see that you could not imagine walking on.

Most steep slope (residential style) roofing products are not considered water-proof. They are designed to shed water. As rain falls on a roof in a downward angle, the shingles allow the water to flow and run off the roof. When events such as hard, wind-driven rain, or ice forming on a roof take place, water can penetrate at an upward angle resulting in leakage. We are Oklahoma City roofing contractors who care and are one of the only contractors in Oklahoma with a dedicated on-staff repair and maintenance division. `

Benefit From Our Experience

Our experience in working with homeowners is that many believe the process of installing a new roof is no more than nailing new shingles to the existing surface, and that anyone with a strong back and the willingness to challenge the hazards of walking on top of a house is qualified to do the job. The reality is that steep slope residential style roofing is a highly technical procedure. Installing a new roof without proper education and skill could result in deterioration of the structure of the home, as well as troublesome interior leakage. This is why we take great pride in our repair and maintenance division. We know how to test, diagnose and repair the issue, not just cover it up or create a quick fix. We have experience in all roofing materials, from impact resistant shingles, architectural shingles, wood shake, tile, and slate. We can help you decide which type of roof will fit your budget and needs or how to repair any type of roofing material.

We at Red River Roofing take great pride in the level of education and knowledge we have obtained through roofing industry training and involvement, manufacturer certification training, and continuing education through our many manufacturers. We believe that the only ethical and proper way to specify and install any roof for any homeowner is to have the appropriate training, skills, and factory trained Project Managers overseeing the entire installation. We clearly understand that a roof system is an intricate process of correct fastening, detailed flashing work, calculated and designed ventilation, proper sealants and adhesives, and following manufacturer installation specifications. Our employees are covered by both Worker's Compensation and General Liability insurance so you as a residential (homeowner) customer can feel properly protected while our crew is on the job site. We believe by being efficiently staffed in all areas, we can provide the highest level of service before, during, and after the sale.
